The Voices

Weird. Hilarious. Violent. Creepy.

Ryan Reynolds is impressive in this dark comedy about a guy with mental health issues who is battling with the voices in his head.

Not one for the squeamish people of the world.

Dark Places by Gillian Flynn.

There are a few phrases that annoy me more than I won’t bite. The only line that pisses me off faster is when some drunk, ham-faced dude in a bar sees me trying to get past him and barks: Smile, it can’t be that bad! Yeah, actually, it can, jackwad.

This book was a little too dark for me at times, but I loved it. Intense, creepy, and a really great thriller, I couldn’t put it down. It’s as good, if not better, than Flynn’s other very popular story, Gone Girl (also unputdownable). I actually thought it’d make a great HBO series, and when I googled the idea, I found this – (I’m clearly not the only one dealing with a Gillian Flynn addiction). Looks like another winning adaptation to me. But read the book first. Obviously.
